Hook: Why do the best traders go bankrupt in April?
You make 200,000 PLN on crypto. You are king. April comes. Your accountant says: “You have 38,000 PLN to pay, and you didn’t deduct commissions, you have no TXID, the broker didn’t give PIT-8C. And you also declared CFD incorrectly.” From 200k, 140k remains after corrections, interest and fixes.
This course was created so that story never happens to you.
Table of contents introduction
- Why does a trader need tax knowledge?
- Who is this course for (and who it’s NOT for)
- What you will learn - map of 7 modules
- How to work with the course (tools, files, template)
- Legal disclaimers and status for 2026
- Your first checklist - what to prepare BEFORE start
1. Why is this important for a trader?
Because taxes are the only cost you cannot avoid. You can reduce spread by changing broker. You can reduce tax only with knowledge.
3 reasons why taxes are part of edge:
- Net edge, not gross. Strategy with 20% annually and 19% flat tax is actually 16.2% net. If you miscalculate NBP rates, your backtest lies by 2-4%.
- Leverage of legality. IKE/IKZE is 0% Belka tax. Estonian CIT is 0% until distribution. It’s free tax leverage.
- Peace of mind = better decisions. Trader who fears tax office closes positions too early, doesn’t average, doesn’t hold long-term portfolio.
Example: Trader employee (120k annually) + 80k from stock trading. On employment has PIT-11 and 32% second threshold. If he doesn’t know that PIT-38 is 19% regardless of scale, he thinks he will pay 32%. Fear blocks him from scaling.
2. Who is this course for - and who it’s NOT for
For YES:
- You have > 10 transactions annually
- You have a foreign broker (IBKR, DEGIRO, XTB Intl, Bybit, Binance)
- You account for crypto staking / LP / futures
- You consider JDG or LLC for trading
- You want to start a company in Estonia / Cyprus / UAE
- You have > 20k profit yearly - then optimization returns 10x
For NO:
- You have only IKE and Polish ETF and don’t exceed dividend allowance - PIT-8C is enough
- You’re looking for “how not to pay taxes” - we don’t teach that. We teach how to pay less, legally.
- You don’t want to keep records - without records there is no optimization.
3. Course structure - 7 lessons you must go through in order
| # | Lesson | Key Takeaway | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | PIT-38 vs PIT-36 instrument map | You know what to enter where in PIT | 90 min |
| 02 | Crypto FIFO staking airdrops | You calculate crypto without error, you have TXID evidence | 110 min |
| 03 | Sole proprietorship vs LLC vs Estonian CIT | You choose legal form with effective calculation | 100 min |
| 04 | Foreign broker W-8BEN NBP rate | You settle IBKR per NBP D-1, you have UPO | 80 min |
| 05 | Company abroad CFC substance | You know when Estonia makes sense and when it’s a CFC trap | 100 min |
| 06 | Accounting records 3 registers | You have Sheets + Drive template ready for accountant | 60 min |
| 07 | Annual checklists tax calendar | You close the year in 6 steps, no panic on April 30 | 60 min |
Recommended path: 1 week = 1 lesson + exercises.
4. How to work with course - tools
Prepare before start:
- Google Drive: folder
Trader_Taxes_2026with subfolders/PIT-8C /Foreign_Broker /Crypto_TXID /Costs /JDG - Google Sheets: 3 registers - we will show template in lesson 06
- Tools: Koinly (trial), CoinTracking, NBP API (table A), e-Tax Office account (trusted profile)
- Documents: PIT-8C from last 2 years, transaction history from brokers (CSV), deposit/withdrawal history, W-8BEN confirmations
Formula for your goal in this course
Net_Profit = Gross_Profit - Effective_Tax - Costs_(Accountant+Tool)
Goal is to minimize Effective\_Tax legally, not Gross\_Profit.
5. Legal status for 2026 and disclaimers
We base on:
- PIT Act art. 17, 30b, Journal of Laws 2026, crypto as monetary capital since 2019
- CIT Act, Estonian CIT since 2021, changes 2023-2025
- ATAD Directive, Polish CFC art. 24a CIT
- Interpretations KIS 2024-2026, NSA judgments regarding CFD as PIT-36
- KSeF from 2026 - mandatory for JDG VAT
What may change after 2026-05-13? Lump sum rates, Estonian CIT limits (revenue 100M?), UAE rates (9% above 102k USD), IKE/IKZE thresholds.
Therefore each lesson has a section “What to check in 2027”.
6. Your first checklist - START
Before you go to lesson 01, do this in 45 minutes:
- Download PIT-8C from all Polish brokers
- Download Annual Tax Statement from IBKR/DEGIRO/eToro
- Download CSV transaction history (last 12 months)
- Check if you have active W-8BEN (IBKR -> Settings -> Tax Forms)
- Create Drive folder with 5 subfolders
- Create empty Google Sheets “Trader_Register_2026”
- Log into e-Tax Office and check if you have historical UPO
Intro exercise: Calculate rough estimate: how much tax did you pay in 2025? How much commissions? How much swap/overnight? Enter into sheet. This will be your benchmark. After course you will return to this number.
Summary
After this course you will not become a tax advisor, but you will be a conscious advisor client. You will speak accountant’s language, bring him 3 registers instead of 200 pdfs, and you will know when his advice “let’s put it in costs” makes sense and when it’s asking for an audit.
Next step: Lesson 01 - PIT-38 vs PIT-36 instrument map. There we will decide once and for all: where CFD, where stocks, where crypto.
Good luck. And remember - tax office likes a trader who has order.
