Ranking 01 / Brokers

Broker ranking 2026

Ten brokers who really serve a retail client from Poland — supervised by the KNF (Polish Financial Supervision Authority) or operating under an EU passport. We do not compare “trading platforms”, only institutions: who holds a licence, who is the counterparty to your transaction, where your assets end up and how much you pay for inactivity.

The distinction that changes everything is the execution model. In the real model you buy the instrument to own it and the order goes to the market. In the CFD model you enter a contract for difference with the broker, who earns on the spread and is the counterparty to the transaction. The ranking shows both — and does not pretend they are the same service.

Methodology — how the order was produced

Six criteria, 100 points, zero bought places

The order is not a subjective “top 10”. Every entry scores against the same criteria and the result is public — you can disagree with it and score it your own way, but you can see what it was built on.

01 Regulation and investor protection
25 pts
The licence and the register (KNF, that is the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, plus CySEC, BaFin and CBI), participation in a compensation scheme, the protection limit and the transparency of the entity serving a client from Poland.
02 Product range and execution model
20 pts
Access to real shares, ETFs, bonds and futures versus CFDs only. A CFD-only broker takes a points penalty — you do not own the shares there.
03 Costs and transparency of the price list
20 pts
Commissions, the spread, the inactivity fee, the cost of a withdrawal and of a currency conversion. Separately, we assess whether the price list is public and unambiguous.
04 Polish-language support
15 pts
A Polish website, a Polish help centre, a Polish app, customer support, and the availability of IKE and IKZE (the Polish retirement accounts).
05 Platform and execution
10 pts
A web and mobile platform, account modes, a demo account, and the order execution model — agency versus OTC, where the broker is the counterparty to the transaction.
06 Education
10 pts
Educational materials, webinars, analyses and a knowledge base in Polish.

The data comes from the brokers’ and regulators’ pages fetched directly: KNF, CySEC, BaFin, the Central Bank of Ireland and the Danish FSA. Price lists carry version dates where the broker publishes them — for example the XTB fee table of 29 June 2026 and the DEGIRO table of 1 January 2026.

Scope: brokers genuinely available to retail clients from Poland. Entries that could not be confirmed are marked as not verified — we do not fill gaps with guesses.

Brokers’ price lists change several times a year. Before you open an account, check the current fee table and the disclosure documents at the broker.

Full cards — from first to tenth place

Each card carries the score against six criteria, the comparison data, the strengths and a list of things to watch out for. The “what we could not confirm” section matters as much as the rest — it shows where our knowledge ends.

PL support
Full: website, app, support, IKE/IKZE

Strengths

  • A client from Poland is served by a Polish company under KNF supervision, not by a foreign entity operating on a passport.
  • Real shares (over 7,400 companies, including the GPW (Warsaw Stock Exchange) and the USA) and real ETFs alongside a separate CFD offer.
  • IKE, IKZE and Investment Plans — retirement accounts you will not find at most foreign brokers.
  • Daily webinars and educational materials in Polish; a demo account is available.
  • Protection in the KDPW Compensation Scheme: 100% up to EUR 3,000 and 90% of the excess, up to a maximum of EUR 20,100.

What to watch out for

  • An inactivity fee of EUR 10 a month if you have not traded for 365 days, have not deposited for 90 days and hold no open position.
  • Currency conversion of 0.5% on business days and 0.8% at weekends — with many transactions in USD that is a real cost.
  • A card deposit costs 0.66% in PLN, 0.70% in EUR and 0.95% in USD.
  • A KNF fine of 9,900,000 zł from 2018 (upheld by the NSA in 2023) concerned the way products were presented — it has not disappeared from the register.
  • The broker’s own warning: 77% of retail CFD accounts make a loss.

PL support
No PL version; no IKE/IKZE

Strengths

  • Shares, ETFs, options, futures, bonds, funds, spot FX and crypto in one account.
  • An agency model with IB SmartRouting — orders go to the market and commissions are broken down into exchange fees.
  • It accepts retail clients with no minimum deposit, and a demo account (Paper Trading) starts with USD 1,000,000.
  • GPW costs on the tiered schedule: 0.05%, a minimum of 5 zł and a maximum of 125 zł.

What to watch out for

  • No Polish version of the site and no confirmed Polish-language support.
  • No IKE and no IKZE — you cannot build a Polish retirement plan here.
  • The cover limit of the Irish Investor Compensation Scheme is not stated directly in the IBIE documents.
  • Crypto and the proceeds of selling it are not covered by the ICS, and client assets are held in omnibus accounts.

Trading 212

Typical cost

PL support
A PL website; help centre in EN/DE only

Strengths

  • The Invest account gives you real shares and ETFs, including fractional ones, with no commission — the only standing cost is 0.15% for currency conversion.
  • The CFD account is a separate product, so you do not buy a CFD by accident while looking for shares.
  • Entry from EUR 1, no account fee and no inactivity fee.
  • A demo account with USD 50,000 and one of the best-rated mobile apps on the market.

What to watch out for

  • Which entity of the group serves a client from Poland was not confirmed in the materials — and that decides the compensation scheme.
  • A Polish help centre does not exist: only the en-us and de-de locales are available, so PL support is uncertain.
  • No IKE and no IKZE.
  • On 10 August 2026 BaFin published a warning about the sites 212trading.online and 212trading.pro impersonating Trading 212 EU GmbH.
  • The broker’s warning: 77% of retail CFD accounts make a loss.

Typical cost

PL support
A full PL version and a Polish help centre

Strengths

  • Real shares and ETFs in a mode without leverage; CFDs are a separate mode for short selling and gearing.
  • No inactivity fee and no account fee.
  • Protection in the Cypriot Investor Compensation Fund up to EUR 20,000.

What to watch out for

  • A commission of USD 1-2 charged separately on opening and on closing a position — on small transactions it eats the profit.
  • The FINRA, SEC, FDIC and SIPC badges shown on the Polish site describe the American entity and say nothing about the protection of a client from Poland.
  • Crypto is not covered by the ICF compensation scheme.
  • The minimum subsequent deposit is USD 50, a bank transfer a minimum of USD 500, and the minimum withdrawal USD 30.

  • No inactivity fee and no custody fee; deposits and withdrawals are free.
  • ETFs from the Core Selection cost you EUR 0 + EUR 1 in costs.
  • There is no CFD section in the price list for Poland — the broker earns on commission, not on your loss.

What to watch out for

  • No demo account — you cannot test the platform without a deposit.

Plus500

Plus500CY Ltd, Cyprus (CySEC 250/14); the entity for Poland: not verified

The most recognisable CFD broker in the comparison and deliberately last: you do not buy shares to own here, the broker is the counterparty to every transaction, and some of the data comes from an archive.

CFD-only: The broker does not offer real shares. Every position is a contract for difference with the broker as the counterparty.

A PL website and a Polish FAQ; the PL phone line: not verified

Strengths

  • No commission — the revenue comes from the spread, which on large positions can be cheaper than a flat commission.
  • The Polish plus500.pl domain is approved by CySEC, and there is a Polish FAQ.
  • A demo account and a professional trading mode are available.
  • The ban on bonuses for retail clients is respected and confirmed in the broker’s materials.

What to watch out for

  • This is a CFD-only broker: you do not own the shares, you do not receive a dividend as an owner, and the broker earns on the bid/ask difference.
  • Which entity serves a client from Poland today was not established — archived materials pointed to Plus500EE AS of Estonia.
  • An inactivity fee of up to USD 10 a month after three months without logging in.
  • Currency conversion of up to 0.7% on every transaction in an account held in another currency.
  • The compensation-scheme cover amount and the minimum deposit: not verified.

↑ Summary

Who is not in the ranking, and why

A ranking without an explanation of its gaps is incomplete. These three entities come up in Polish discussions about brokers, but they did not meet the entry criterion.

01

IG Group (IG Europe GmbH)

The broker states itself: “For regulatory reasons we are currently unable to open new accounts for people resident in Poland”. A multi-product model and a strong platform, but unavailable to a new client from Poland — hence outside the ranking. Existing clients carry on trading.

02

OANDA TMS Brokers S.A.

A real broker with a KNF licence (authorisation of 26 April 2004), offering real shares and ETFs alongside CFDs, but of a smaller retail scale than the entries in the top ten. Some rates were not confirmed, because the product pages did not return content when fetched.

03

Revolut (Revolut Securities Europe UAB)

A very popular app and real fractional shares at 0.10% commission above the plan limit, but it is first and foremost a bank and a neobank, not a broker with a full offer: no IKE and no IKZE, no CFDs, and the limit of the Lithuanian compensation scheme was not confirmed.

Questions and answers about brokers

Answers to the questions that decide your choice of broker: the KNF licence, the compensation-scheme limit, leverage on CFDs, the difference between a real broker and a CFD-only broker, and IKE and IKZE.

01 Does a broker need a KNF licence to serve clients from Poland lawfully?

No. Investment firms from the European Union operate in Poland under an EU passport (MiFID II) — a licence from the home regulator, such as CySEC, BaFin or the Central Bank of Ireland, is enough. The CySEC register names Poland directly on the list of countries for cross-border services, among others for Trading 212 Markets Ltd. and Freedom Finance Europe Ltd. There is one practical difference, but a large one: a client of a foreign broker is covered by the compensation scheme of the home country, not by the Polish KDPW.

02 How much protection does the Polish compensation scheme give?

By statute, 100% up to the equivalent of EUR 3,000 plus 90% of the excess, with a ceiling on the funds covered by the scheme of EUR 22,000, which gives a maximum compensation of EUR 20,100. The scheme covers the loss of funds and instruments in the event of the investment firm’s insolvency. It does not cover losses from trading itself, for example losses on CFDs.

03 What is the maximum leverage on CFDs for a retail client in the Union?

After the ESMA product intervention: 1:30 for major currency pairs, 1:20 for other pairs, gold and major indices, 1:10 for other commodities and indices, 1:5 for shares and 1:2 for crypto-assets. A close-out at 50% of the required margin, negative balance protection and a ban on bonuses also apply. In Poland the KNF kept those limits and added a category of retail experienced client with leverage of up to 1:100 once turnover and knowledge criteria are met.

04 How does a real broker differ from a CFD-only broker?

In the real model the broker executes the order on a regulated market and the client becomes the owner of the instrument; assets are segregated, for example DEGIRO holds them in a separate special-purpose company. In the CFD model the broker is the counterparty to the transaction and earns on the spread — the Plus500 licence covering dealing on own account confirms this, as does a KNF decision describing XTB as the counterparty in the instant model. With CFDs you do not buy shares, you do not receive a dividend as an owner, and the broker may have an interest in your loss.

05 Do brokers have to disclose what proportion of clients lose money on CFDs?

Yes. A standardised risk warning is part of the ESMA requirements. The published figures differ between brokers: XTB 77%, Trading 212 77%, bossaFX (DM BOŚ) 68%, IG 72%, Interactive Brokers 57.9%. These are the broker’s own figures for the last twelve months, not an independent audit.

06 Can I have an IKE or an IKZE with a foreign broker?

In practice IKE and IKZE accounts are offered by Polish institutions: XTB, mBank eMakler and DM BOŚ, which has IKE, IKZE and amIKE. At the foreign brokers in this comparison — Interactive Brokers, Trading 212, eToro, DEGIRO, Saxo Bank and Freedom24 — no IKE or IKZE offer was found in the materials fetched. The 2026 contribution limits: IKE 28,260 zł, IKZE 11,304 zł, and for an entrepreneur 16,956 zł.

07 Why are IG Group, OANDA TMS Brokers and Revolut not in the ranking?

IG Group states itself that for regulatory reasons it does not open new accounts for people resident in Poland — the broker exists on the market, but it is unavailable to a new Polish client. OANDA TMS Brokers is a real broker with a KNF licence, but of a smaller retail scale than the entries in the top ten. Revolut is first and foremost a bank and an app, not a broker with a full offer: no IKE and no IKZE, no CFDs, and the limit of the Lithuanian compensation scheme was not confirmed.

08 How often does this data change?

Brokers’ price lists change several times a year, and regulator decisions without notice. This ranking carries a research date of 10 September 2026, and for each entry we give the version of the price list if the broker publishes one. Before you open an account, check the terms directly with the broker and in the regulator’s register — our description is a starting point, not the last word.

None of the published content constitutes an investment recommendation, investment research or a recommendation within the meaning of Regulation (EU) No 596/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council (MAR) and its implementing acts. Nor is it an offer to acquire or dispose of financial instruments or an invitation to submit offers. All examples, charts, screenshots and figures are illustrative and refer to hypothetical or historical situations.

  2. 02

Leveraged instruments (CFDs, futures, options, margin transactions) can generate losses exceeding the value of the funds paid in — you can lose more than you invested and be called to top up your margin (a margin call). In the European Union, leverage for retail clients trading CFDs on major currency pairs is restricted by a decision of ESMA (product intervention on CFDs and binary options), but restricting leverage does not remove the risk. The percentage of retail accounts making a loss differs between brokers and changes over time — read the current figure from the risk warning at your broker and record it together with the date.

  3. 03

The order of positions in the rankings reflects an editorial assessment against the criteria described in the methodology of that ranking and does not depend on any agreement with an operator. We do not accept payments for a place in a comparison. The existence of an affiliate programme may influence whether a given offer appears in a comparison at all, but it does not buy a place in the top three — the substantive assessment and the criteria remain transparent and described. We describe the monetisation model of the site in the footer.

  4. 04

Some of the links on the site are affiliate (partner) links. If you click such a link and open an account, make a deposit or sign up for a programme, the site's operator may receive a commission. The commission does not change the terms of the offer available to you and does not increase your costs — it is paid by the partner out of its own margin. The site also displays Google ads (AdSense). Ads do not influence the content of the materials or the order of positions in the rankings — no operator can buy that.

  5. 05

Offers, promotions and programmes described on the site may be available only to specific groups of recipients, in specific countries and for a specific time. The terms presented in the comparisons are illustrative and may differ from the current terms and conditions of the organiser. Always verify the terms directly at the source — at the bank, with the broker or on the exchange — before taking any action.

  6. 06

The names of brokers, banks, exchanges, platforms and financial products, and their logos, belong to their owners and are used solely for informational and identification purposes. We do not thereby suggest any affiliation with, patronage by or recommendation from those entities.

  7. 07

We publish the content with due care, but it may contain errors or inaccuracies, or be out of date — regulations, costs, interest rates and offer terms change without notice. The materials do not replace the information documents, terms and conditions, price lists or prospectuses provided by the given institution. To the fullest extent permitted by law we accept no liability for decisions taken on the basis of the site content or for damage resulting from them. This exclusion does not cover cases in which the exclusion of liability is impermissible (including damage caused intentionally and consumer rights arising from mandatorily applicable law).
