Ranking 02 / Crypto exchanges

Crypto exchange ranking

We start with the thing most comparisons skip: whether the exchange has permission to serve a client from Poland. We checked the raw ESMA Interim MiCA Register — 346 entries, 171 entities with a passport into Poland. Without an entry, an exchange has no right to take on new clients from Poland from 1 July 2026.

The second thing we say plainly: not one of these exchanges offers full PLN service — that is, a deposit and a withdrawal by transfer in złoty (PLN). Coinbase and OKX let you buy crypto with złoty via BLIK, Binance takes a deposit by card and withdraws only via P2P, and Kraken and Nexo do not support złoty at all.

Before you deposit: four entities without a MiCA licence

Binance, Bitget, MEXC and Nexo do not appear in the CASP register kept by ESMA. Since 1 July 2026 Binance, Bitget and MEXC may not offer services to new clients from Poland. We keep them in the comparison, because there are still Polish accounts there, but we do not point you from this site to their registration — for a new Polish client such a registration may be impermissible.

Crypto-assets are not covered by a bank guarantee or a compensation scheme to the same extent as deposits. History shows that exchanges fail and are robbed — keep on the exchange only what you actively trade.

Methodology — how the order was produced

Six criteria, 100 points, zero bought places

The order is not a subjective “top 10”. Every entry scores against the same criteria and the result is public — you can disagree with it and score it your own way, but you can see what it was built on.

01 Regulation and the MiCA licence
25 pts
An entry in the CASP register kept by ESMA: an entity in the Union, the competent regulator and a passport into Poland. No entry means the exchange has no permission to serve new clients from Poland.
02 Liquidity and market coverage
20 pts
The number of listed assets, and the availability of the spot market, derivatives, staking and Earn products.
03 Costs
20 pts
Maker and taker rates, the cost of buying crypto with złoty and the cost of a withdrawal. Rates change with your VIP level.
04 Security and transparency of reserves
20 pts
The history of hacks, regulator fines, publication of proof of reserves and the actual level of reserve backing.
05 Polish-language service and PLN support
15 pts
A Polish version of the site, Polish support, and the ability to deposit and withdraw złoty. No exchange in this comparison offers full PLN service.

MiCA status checked in the raw ESMA Interim MiCA Register file (CASPS.csv), fetched on 10 September 2026: 346 entries, 171 entities with the PL code. The fee rates come from the exchanges’ official tables, not from comparison sites — where the data differed, we described the discrepancy.

Scope: exchanges that serve, or until recently served, clients from Poland. MEXC did not make the comparison because it has no MiCA, an unclear entity structure and the longest list of excluded jurisdictions.

The ESMA register is updated continuously, and rates change with your VIP level. Before you deposit, check the current entry in the register and the exchange’s terms and conditions.

Full cards — from first to tenth place

Each card carries the regulatory status, comparison data, strengths, a list of risks and a list of the fields we could not confirm. The security section takes account of the history of hacks and fines, because in crypto there is no fund that will give you back stolen funds.

  • Over 600 assets, perpetual futures contracts, margin and staking of up to 21% a year.
  • No material hack in the available sources, an insurance fund and a bug bounty programme.

What to watch out for

  • The highest spot rates in the comparison: 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker at Tier 1.
  • The simple, beginner-friendly mode costs 1% on an instant transaction and 1.5% for a custom order.
  • No Polish-language service and no PLN pair — you deposit and withdraw in EUR, USD or GBP.

Bybit

Bybit EU GmbH, Vienna (FMA Austria)

A European entity with a MiCA licence, a Polish version of the site and low spot rates — against the backdrop of the largest hack in crypto history.

Strengths

  • A European entity with a MiCA licence, supervised by the Austrian FMA and with a passport into Poland.
  • The Polish version of the site works, and spot rates of 0.1% per 0.1% are among the lowest in the comparison.
  • Over 350 assets, futures, options, Earn and copy trading in one place.
  • Earn rates can be high — up to 21.5% APR on selected stablecoin pairs.

What to watch out for

  • In February 2025 the exchange was robbed of about USD 1.5 billion — the largest theft in crypto history, attributed to the Lazarus group from North Korea.
  • The content of the proof-of-reserves report was not confirmed in the materials fetched.
  • No trading pairs with PLN — deposits and withdrawals in złoty require an intermediary.
  • A discrepancy in the fee data: the Moneteo comparison gives a taker fee of 0.25%, the official Bybit table 0.1% — we took the official table.
  • Promotional Earn rates of the order of 555% APR apply to two-day campaigns, not to a standing interest rate.

Strengths

  • A company listed in the USA, which means an additional reporting obligation and financial transparency.
  • A MiCA licence supervised by the Luxembourg CSSF, with a passport into Poland.
  • Buying crypto with złoty via BLIK — the simplest way in for someone from Poland.
  • Over 400 assets, Advanced Trade, staking and rewards on USDC of up to 3.50% APY.

What to watch out for

  • Rates of 0.40% maker and 0.60% taker are clearly higher than at the exchanges in the top five.
  • No proof-of-reserves report — transparency rests on the filings of a public company.
  • Polish customer support does not exist; only the site has a Polish version.
  • Derivatives for the EEA are only now being introduced, so the offer for a client from Poland is thinner.

↑ Summary

Questions and answers about crypto exchanges

MiCA, support for the złoty, proof of reserves, the real rates and what the high interest rates in the Earn section actually mean.

01 What is a MiCA licence and why does it matter to a client from Poland?

MiCA is the EU regulation on markets in crypto-assets. An entity that wants to provide crypto services in the Union lawfully must obtain a CASP authorisation from the regulator of one of the member states and be entered in the register kept by ESMA. An entry with the PL code means a passport, that is the right to serve clients in Poland. Without an entry the exchange operates outside the EU supervisory system — and from 1 July 2026 it may no longer take on new clients from Poland.

02 How many exchanges in this ranking have a full MiCA licence?

Six out of ten: Kraken, Bybit, Coinbase, Gate.io, OKX and SwissBorg. KuCoin has an entry in the register of 27 November 2025, but there is unconfirmed information about a prohibition on new business issued by the Austrian FMA in February 2026. Binance, Bitget and Nexo have no entry in the CASP register at all.

03 Does any of these exchanges support deposits and withdrawals in złoty by bank transfer?

No. No exchange in the comparison offers full PLN service, that is a deposit and a withdrawal by transfer in złoty. Coinbase and OKX let you buy crypto with złoty via BLIK. Binance accepts a PLN deposit only by card, and a withdrawal in złoty is possible only via P2P, that is with a counterparty, not with the exchange. Kraken and Nexo do not support PLN at all. The rest is not verified.

04 What is proof of reserves and do all exchanges publish it?

Proof of reserves is a report showing how many client assets the exchange actually holds against its liabilities. Confirmed reports are published by Kraken (snapshot of 30 June 2026, BTC 102.9%), OKX (edition 46, USD 22.96 billion, BTC 111%), KuCoin (31 August 2026, BTC 107%, ETH 117%, USDT 111%) and Bitget (a monthly Merkle report declaring a minimum of 100% coverage). For Binance, Bybit, Gate.io, Coinbase, SwissBorg and Nexo we could not confirm a report in the materials fetched.

05 Which exchanges have the lowest spot fees?

MEXC comes out lowest, and it did not make the ranking because it has no MiCA licence: 0.0000% maker and a taker fee from 0.0400% to 0.0500%. Within the ranking, OKX, Binance, Bybit, Gate, Bitget and KuCoin are the cheapest, with a standard rate of 0.10% per 0.10%. Kraken and Coinbase are the dearest: 0.40% and 0.80%, and 0.40% and 0.60% respectively.

06 What should you watch out for with Earn rates that look very high?

Earn rates are variable and are almost never guaranteed. Promotional figures of the order of 30% or 555% APR apply to short campaigns, vouchers or selected stablecoin pairs, not to a standing interest rate on your funds. In the exchanges’ materials the rates are described as estimated. Treat them as marketing, not as a rate of return.

07 Should a history of hacks affect your choice of exchange?

Yes, because crypto is not covered by a compensation scheme in the way bank deposits are. In February 2025 Bybit lost about USD 1.5 billion in the largest theft in crypto history, in 2019 Binance lost 7,000 BTC and in 2022 the BNB Bridge about USD 568 million, and KuCoin was robbed in 2020 and paid a fine of about USD 300 million in 2025. None of those losses was covered from a client protection fund. Keep on the exchange only what you actively trade.

08 How often does this data change?

The ESMA register is updated continuously, and exchanges change their price lists and licence statuses several times a year. This ranking carries a research date of 10 September 2026. Before you deposit, check the current entry in the CASP register and the exchange’s terms and conditions — our comparison is a starting point, not the last word.

Legal notices

  1. 01

Crypto assets are not covered by a bank guarantee, a compensation scheme or prudential supervision to the same extent as bank deposits. Their value may rise or fall to zero in a very short time — volatility is the rule here, not the exception. The risks of crypto assets include, among others: market risk, exchange counterparty risk (including the risk of bankruptcy and suspension of withdrawals), the risk of stablecoin de-pegging, the risk of losing private keys, smart contract risk, regulatory risk and the risk of fraud and phishing. “Not your keys — not your coins” also applies to funds held on an exchange. In the European Union crypto assets are regulated by the MiCA Regulation, which does not, however, mean that your funds are safe.

None of the published content constitutes an investment recommendation, investment research or a recommendation within the meaning of Regulation (EU) No 596/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council (MAR) and its implementing acts. Nor is it an offer to acquire or dispose of financial instruments or an invitation to submit offers. All examples, charts, screenshots and figures are illustrative and refer to hypothetical or historical situations.

  3. 03

The order of positions in the rankings reflects an editorial assessment against the criteria described in the methodology of that ranking and does not depend on any agreement with an operator. We do not accept payments for a place in a comparison. The existence of an affiliate programme may influence whether a given offer appears in a comparison at all, but it does not buy a place in the top three — the substantive assessment and the criteria remain transparent and described. We describe the monetisation model of the site in the footer.

  4. 04

Some of the links on the site are affiliate (partner) links. If you click such a link and open an account, make a deposit or sign up for a programme, the site's operator may receive a commission. The commission does not change the terms of the offer available to you and does not increase your costs — it is paid by the partner out of its own margin. The site also displays Google ads (AdSense). Ads do not influence the content of the materials or the order of positions in the rankings — no operator can buy that.

  5. 05

Offers, promotions and programmes described on the site may be available only to specific groups of recipients, in specific countries and for a specific time. The terms presented in the comparisons are illustrative and may differ from the current terms and conditions of the organiser. Always verify the terms directly at the source — at the bank, with the broker or on the exchange — before taking any action.

  6. 06

The names of brokers, banks, exchanges, platforms and financial products, and their logos, belong to their owners and are used solely for informational and identification purposes. We do not thereby suggest any affiliation with, patronage by or recommendation from those entities.

  7. 07

We publish the content with due care, but it may contain errors or inaccuracies, or be out of date — regulations, costs, interest rates and offer terms change without notice. The materials do not replace the information documents, terms and conditions, price lists or prospectuses provided by the given institution. To the fullest extent permitted by law we accept no liability for decisions taken on the basis of the site content or for damage resulting from them. This exclusion does not cover cases in which the exclusion of liability is impermissible (including damage caused intentionally and consumer rights arising from mandatorily applicable law).
