Introduction: Why do traders pay penalties not for bad trading but for being late?
There are two deadlines in trader’s year you cannot miss: Feb 28 - whether you have all PIT-8C, and April 30 - filing PIT-38/36 + UPO. Third - Dec 31 - IKE/IKZE contribution and Estonian optimization. Each delay: PIT after deadline = 10% sanction + 14% interest yearly, no IKE = you lose 2,000-3,000 PLN relief yearly. This module is your calendar and checklist thanks to which on April 30 you are already done in February.

1. Why does it matter for a trader?
Because taxes are a project, not one-time event. Trader who does everything on April 29 makes 3x more mistakes, has stress and overpays.
Formula for late cost:
Interest = Tax × (Days_late / 365) × Interest_rate_(14%
Example: 20,000 PLN tax, 30 days late, rate 14% -> interest = 20k 30/3650.14 = 230 PLN + fine 10%?
Relief_(IKE/IKZE = Contribution × PIT_rate (12%/32% or 19% flat)
IKZE 10,000 PLN at 32% threshold = 3,200 PLN return. If you miss 31.12, you lose 3,200 PLN irretrievably for given year.

3. February: PIT-8C - what to check
By Feb 28/29 each Polish payer (XTB, mBank, DM BOŚ, Pekao) must issue PIT-8C and send to tax office and to you.
February checklist:
- List of Polish brokers: do you have PIT-8C from each? (XTB, XTB has 2 sections? Check)
- Does revenue/cost amount in PIT-8C match your register 1? If not, complaint.
- Does PIT-8C contain section for CFD (other sources) - do you have something there?
- Did PIT-11 from employment / mandate arrive?
- Do you have yearly info about IKE/IKZE?
If no PIT-8C by March 5 - write to broker complaint. He must issue.
4. April: PIT-38/36 - how to file without error
Step 1 (by 31.03): Calculate PIT-38 and PIT-36 income in sheet with NBP D-1.
Step 2 (1-15.04): Upload to e-PIT or Your e-PIT (podatnik.gov.pl) -> check if automatic pulled PL PIT-8C. For foreign you must add manually.
Step 3: Fill:
- PIT-38: revenue, cost, income, tax (19%). Sections: securities and crypto separately.
- PIT-36: section Income from other sources - income from CFD/forex, tax 19%.
- Attachment PIT/ZG or PIT/O - foreign tax to deduct (WHT) + attachment showing losses from past years (PIT/M)
- PIT-38 crypto: if only crypto, fill only crypto section, but same form.
Step 4: Approve and file online. Download UPO immediately. Save in /07_PIT_Final/UPO_2025_2026-04-xx.pdf
Step 5: Pay tax by 30.04 to micro tax account (individual).
Deadline_{PIT} = 30.04.2026
If 30.04 falls weekend -> next business day, but don’t risk.
5. December: IKE/IKZE and Estonian CIT - last chance
IKE: Limit 2026 ~26,000 PLN (~6.5k USD) (3x average salary). Profit in IKE without Belka tax after age 60 (or 55 and 5 years). Contribution by 31.12.
IKZE: Limit 2026 ~10,000-12,000 PLN (~2.5-3k USD) (1.2x). Tax relief in PIT: contribution deducted from income. At 32% -> return 3,200-3,800 PLN. Withdrawal after age 65 tax flat 10% (instead of scale).
Relief formula:
Return_(IKZE = Contribution_(IKZE × PIT_rate
Example: Contribution 10k IKZE, threshold 32% -> return 3,200 PLN in PIT-37 for 2026 filed in 2027.
Estonian CIT: If you are on Estonian, remember: by end of year you must have employment and investment condition met. Otherwise you lose right from Jan 1 next year.
KSeF from 2026: Invoices for JDG in KSeF mandatory electronically.
6. Table: deadline, document, late consequence

7. Year-end closing checklist for trader step by step - 12 steps

February: 5. [ ] Download all PIT-8C, PIT-11, check compliance with registers. File complaints if difference >10 PLN
March: 6. [ ] Calculate Koinly FIFO for crypto, separate crypto futures (PIT-36) from spot (PIT-38) 7. [ ] Calculate income PIT-38 stocks/ETF + income PIT-38 crypto + income PIT-36 CFD/forex separately 8. [ ] Check losses from 2020-2024 to deduct (max 50% per year). Sheet PIT/M

8. How to apply in practice - example calendar in Google Calendar
Create calendar Trader Taxes with recurring events:
- 5th each month: Update 3 registers (15 min)
- Feb 15: Check PIT-8C
- March 15: FIFO Koinly calculation
- April 1: Fill PIT draft
- April 25: File PIT + UPO + payment
- Dec 1: IKE/IKZE contribution
- Oct 1: Decision JDG form for next year
Automation: In Sheets add column Deadline Alert = =IF(TODAY()>DATE(2026,4,30), "OVERDUE", "OK")
9. Beginner mistakes
- Waiting to April 30 with calculation - systematic error, 50% mistakes last day.
- No IKZE payment by 31.12 because “transfer up to 3 days” - date of booking on IKE/IKZE account counts, not order date. Make transfer Dec 28.
- Not filing PIT-36 because “only small CFD” - every income must be reported, even 1 PLN.
- No PIT/ZG attachment for foreign tax - you won’t deduct WHT, overpay.
- No PIT/M for loss - you won’t deduct loss from past years, lose right after 5 years.
- No UPO backup - laptop dies, office claims you didn’t file. Without UPO you pay again.
- KSeF ignored - from 2026 invoices must be in KSeF, paper invalid for VAT.
10. Practical exercises + Template
Ex 1: Create in Google Calendar 8 events from this lesson for 2026 with reminder 3 days before.
Ex 2: Calculate interest: tax 15,000 PLN, delay 45 days, rate 14% yearly.
Solution: 15k 45/3650.14 =258.9 PLN + possible penalty.
Ex 3: Simulate IKZE: you earn 150k on employment (32% threshold), contribute 10k IKZE. How much return? 3,200 PLN. How much you gain after 20 years if IKZE invested in ETF 7% yearly vs regular account with 19% Belka yearly?
Ex 4: Make checklist 12 steps in Google Keep / Todoist and tick one by one for year 2025.
